ADMISSION POLICY

The school is opened to all Ghanaians who meet the entry requirements. There are two (2) programmes run in the College:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Midwifery

General Entry Requirements

Eligible applicant;

  • must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth
  • must be of good character
  • must be not less than 16 years of age and not more than 35 years.
  • who is above 35 Years and a Serving Officer must provide Letters from Employers
  • for Top up programmes must have served for 3 years post auxiliary training with valid licensed

Admission Process

Prospective candidates must;

  • pass the SSSCE/WASSCE or its relevant equivalent exam from the West African Examination Council.
  • meet the basic programme requirement 
  • obtain an e-voucher from any Consolidated Bank Ghana LTD (CBG) branch at a cost of GHC200 per voucher
  • be shortlisted by the admissions’ board.
  • have passed an entrance examination conducted by the College.
  • have gone through a selection interview.
  • be offered admission after having passed the selection interview.

NOTE: A combination of SSSCE and WASSCE results are not acceptable.

  • The names on your SSSCE/WASSCE result slips must be the same on your Biometric Birth Certificate/Ghana Card/Health Insurance Card or you will have to do Gazette or do not apply.

Entry Requirements

    1. West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Applicants
      Applicant must obtain passes (A1- C6) i.e., have aggregate 36 or better in six subjects (3 core and 3 electives). The core subjects and minimum grades are: (C4, C5, and C6) or better in Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science
    2. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) Applicants
      Applicant must obtain passes (A-D) i.e., have aggregate 24 or better in six subjects (3 core and 3 electives). The core subjects and minimum grades are grade D (6) or better in Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science.
    3. A credits in any three elective subjects from the following:
      • Science Programme
        • Mathematics (Elective)
        • Physics
        • Chemistry
        • Biology
      • General Arts
        • Literature in English
        • French
        • The Ghanaian Languages
        • Economics
        • History
        • Government
        • General Knowledge in Arts
        • Christian Religious Studies.
      • Home Economics
        • Management in Living
        • Food and Nutrition
        • Biology
        • Chemistry
        • French
        • General Knowledge in Arts
      • Agricultural Science
        • Physics
        • Chemistry
        • General Agriculture
        • Mathematics (Elective)

    4. Age limit – 16years to 35years
    5. He / She should not have any criminal record
    6. He / She be of good health
    7. He / She must pass a selection interview

Orientation

Students must avail themselves to orientation when necessary.


Medical Examination

Students must avail themselves to take prescribed medical examinations when necessary.


Indexing

    1. All fresh students will have to be indexed with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana before the first Semester ends. Students who do not qualify for indexing will be withdrawn from the school.

Matriculation

    A matriculation ceremony is held in the first semester for the purpose of formally admitting into the institution all new students entering for the Diploma programme. Attendance at the ceremony is compulsory and no new student shall be allowed to take the end of semester examinations unless he/she has been duly matriculated.
